Our new house at Ganapathi Agraharam Trichur and the surroundings

It was our belief that we would continue staying in Paruvakkat House for ever as we were feeling it so The house belonged to some Govindan Nair of Chavakkad near Guruvayur The house there was demolished and a kalyanamntapam Kousthubam of Thiruvambadi Devaswom built there and is a busy and popular location in Truchur

It was in 1957 or 58 we moved to a new house at Ganapathy Agraharam Our eldest brother got appointment as Assistant Accounts officer Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd Bangalore and moved to Bangalore with wife and daughter We therefore found the house big to maintain and moved to Ganapathy agraharam Trichur

During the vacation twice I had occasion to go tic Bangalore and stay with brother and family We brothers Sundaram and Narayanan were shown various places in Bangalore by Manni during our visits In particular she would take us to Pakace gate bus stop and go to places by bus I could see Malleswaram, Vidhana soudha, HAL Airport, Shivajinagar, Lalbagh, Cubbon park etc and it was wonderful

The Ganapathy Agraharam house was also within walkable distance from school, temple, shops, Punkunnam Railway station etc Opposite to our house was that of L S Rajagopal son of Subbarayar He owned a pharmaceutical company existing behind their house

I had my close friends like Moorthy, Cheenu, Ramani, Babu etc We played in the Sankan parambu ground there There were about 20 Brahmin houses in the Agraharam
