I am immensely pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Dr. Chitra Vijayaraghavan who is applying for a position in your residency program. She has not waived her right to see this letter. Dr.Chitra was working in my pediatrics clinic at Hazard Kentucky from Jan 3rd to Jan 21st 2008.During her period of Observership in my clinic, I have discretely noticed her interest evinced in all the aspects of the day to day activities in our hospital.

Dr. Chitra’s daily activity included attending the outpatient clinic and following up and taking rounds with the patients admitted to the floor and coming up with workup and management plans based upon discussions with our medical faculty. Dr Chitra was always punctual and would come in earlier than her schedule time to talk to the parents and help with them with their issues and doubts if any. She was an active participant in almost every topic that we addressed during our inpatient rounds. Her sharp observations and her uncanny skill in deriving logical conclusions/diagnosis were evident during the case discussions. Her communication skills were excellent and her approach was very well balanced and systematic. Her detailed reports, flawless presentations with research based workup, diagnosis and management plans stand testimony to her strong foundation in basic medical sciences and in-depth knowledge of pediatrics concepts.

Dr Chitra had the regular habit of studying about the cases she had seen with me and upon doing a lot of online literary search would talk about the latest news and advancements pertaining to the cases that were published in various journals and online forums. Her aptitude to keep herself updated with the latest in the field would definitely help her reach good heights in Pediatrics. Once when we saw a case of Infant Diabetes she made it a point to research on it the same evening and gave me reports and latest research findings on the case the very next day.

I found Dr.Chitra to be a person with a pleasant personality and easygoing manners. She was really a team worker and was very approachable to all our nursing staff and the patients. Knowing Dr. Chitra for the past 5 weeks and her strengths and vision, I strongly recommend her for residency at your hospital. I am sure Dr. Chitra will prove to be a promising doctor and I wish her success in all her efforts to widen her knowledge base.
